Moral: To Live For The Sun

A Plain, proud, old Poacher,
with crinkled kid gloves,
went hunting his prey:
' Those rarest of rare things '
that elude him each day.
He's chased them through Forest,
so green and so tall;
and chased until there was no chase left within him at all.
****************
Thinking one day,
as he sits on a rock,
" There must be a den
where this strange breed would flock."
So,
he filled up his pockets
with Silver and Gold;
To make Fame
and make riches
and new stories to be told.
****************
Then, he hired three men,
all different in thought,
who had agreed to help find
the thing that he sought.
****************
The first one was David,
the wisest of all,
whose cunning and wit
made most enemies fall.
Since David was wisest,
' The Planner ' was he.
His job,
plot the course
to where their stronghold would be.
And
with David's devotion and courage
so obvious to all;
it proved to me
that true David,
was the truest of all.
****************
To my right
there was Edward,
whose strength was acclaimed.
But, 'twas his valor and courage
which made him so famed.
He possessed hair dark as Iron
and hands like a bear;
but there is no gentler person
nor one who's as fair.
So, I call him ' Cathedral ',
due to his Godly ways.
His job,
friend and rival
till the last of our days.
****************
And lastly was Kenneth,
whom of all I loved best.
For, he could keep one immobile
with his unending jest.
He was dark-skinned,
slender;
just right for this quest.
For his talent was hunting
for days without rest.
And, in my heart,
where friends should be,
he commands the most glorified post.
For his clever disguise of comedy;
makes me respect him the most.
****************
Now!
Through the fire,
to the heart of the flame;
through the heat of the fiery Sun.
It's time to prove to me
you're what I had expected you'd be;
for the chase has just begun.
And chase we did,
for the next three days
we ran
and ran
and ran.
For,
Somehow
they had learned
of the quest we began;
and thus,
uncovered our plan.
****************
Now!
Three days gone by;
'twas mass confusion
and we've come up with nothing yet.
For,
everything we thought real,
was, in turn,
just illusion;
and everything else
we would just forget....
****************
A year has now passed
since we started;
all four of us,
gone our own ways.
****************
When I last heard of Edward,
he was living with Natives;
a new way of Life.
While Kenneth and David
had both taken a wife.
****************
A Plain, proud, old poacher,
with crinkled kid gloves,
still hunting his prey.
Every second,
of each minute,
of each hour,
of day......
